Something about me, something about chiefs, and something about negativity? :P

Ok, admittedly this is a bit later then I wanted to post it, but this is the official invitation to this year's Powwow!

The Powwow is a celebration of cultures and languages of the indigenous peoples of North America (which I am considering anything from as north as the Arctic (Canada/Alaska) and as south as Mexico. For the purposes of this forum it is basically very similar to a TAC, only it starts on November 1st and runs through January 31st.

You don't have to do a TAC kind of thing for the Powwow, though. As long as it has to do with (you guessed it :P ) a language of indigenous North America and you can make regular updates, it's fair game! :)

So, if you're interested, have questions, or want help decided feel free to post and share your thoughts! If it wasn't clear enough above, the Powwow starts on November 1st. And yes, you are allowed to join after the start date.

I plan to participate. I will be working on Ojibwe mainly, and maybe Navajo too, if I can set aside some of my current TAC languages long enough.

Ok, cool. :D

Ojibwe is one that interests me too.

I'm currently deciding between Iroquoian, Tlingit, and Eskimo-Aleut.

Could I do the same languages as last time? So Lnuismk and Michif, and I can try to help with learning other people's languages (including yours) insomuch as desired. :)

I would like to study Nitinaht (also spelled Ditidaht) as I already did last Pow-wow, but I'm not sure.

So, I didn't know that Indigenous Peoples' Day was a thing until just this week.

I'm not going to disrupt the timing of the Powwow this year, but I'm thinking that next year we'll start it on the second Monday in October (and do the typical three month session). That will be perfect, as it'll hit both the holiday and heritage month!

If anyone wants to start now, or anytime before November, feel free. The official start time will remain November first, however.

I will wait until November before I start my Powwow languages. I still want to do some work this month on Japanese, Indonesian and Welsh.

I'm thinking to do Ojibwe. I might just use my TAC to keep track of things, rather than create a thread here, if that's ok? Or, maybe I'll create a thread here to post thoughts and questions and such, and use my TAC to create study goals.
