Oh, interesting question! Hmm...

Why don't we ask in the general discussion for (EDIT) Salajane, Antea, and dEhiN's opinion? Then we can decide that way whether to try making a comparative study thread. If they don't agree, we'll just use this thread for Aleut. :)

Interesting idea. Let's go with it. (Since you already asked. :P )

That reminds me, Vijay, I posted our first "assignment" in my TAC thread (because I wasn't sure if a study group would be formed or what not).

This is the website you mention in your TAC, right?

I dunno whether I'll be able to get everything done by Sunday since it's my first day off this week. :( Maybe Monday though? (You see, I'm also slowly translating a kind of light joke book from Turkish and going through Kurdish with voron... I'm also doing Tamil and Sumerian with dEhiN, but those don't count, because the Tamil thing is super-easy for me and I've already done this week's assignment for both languages. :P I'm also doing French with him, though...which shouldn't be too hard, but I'm just trying to see whether I can squeeze it all in, and especially whether I can do all that).

EDIT: I can imagine you and voron playing tug-of-war with me to the point of tearing me apart. :P
"No, he has to stay in Turkey, because Thanksgiving is coming soon, and that's when you eat turkey! Gobble gobble!"
"Voron, you moron, turkeys are American!"

I would totally win.

At any rate, we can readjust the due date. To be honest, I'm not sure I can get it done in time either. :P
Let's leave the date for now, and if we can't get it done by Sunday, we'll extend it a bit. Sounds good to you?

EDIT: Actually, I probably should have made sure that you didn't want to go through the pronunciation section first (Lesson 0 on the website). So I'll ask now.

No worries.

I was facinated to see that <d> is pronounced [ð/θ] in Native Aleut words. :P

<D> also represents [θ] in a couple of the Latin script-based writing systems for Mapudungun. (I'm not sure [ð] exists in any variety of Mapudungun).
