STAC Spring 2020 - TrapY - Galician

Postby Trapy » 2020-04-17, 4:32

Right boys, I’ve been in quarantine for a month, it’s 11:30pm and I just learned about this language a few days ago.

No resources
No contacts
No ... uh, research.

I did find this page though and a Wikipedia article:
https://www.usc.gal/en/info_xeral/galego/aprender.html

Running challenge from mid April through May 31. might pick up Ainu after that.

LETS DO THIS!

Lesson 1:

Will get some sleep and pick it up tomorrow.

It is less insane than it sounds as I would rate my self “conversational” in Spanish and “non native fluent” in French, have studied Catalan, Romanian and Italian briefly. Portuguese.... I seem to be able to read and dabbled but never really tried hard. Also, I would love to visit this region of Spain once things settle down so, maybe 5+ years it’ll come in handy.

Youtube appears to be my friend for basic resources

Tried searching site here but links are all dead to posts from 2005 or such.

Gallego is the word

Boa sorte! :)
Good luck!

Hai moitos anos que estudo o galego, vou seguir o fío e responder ás túas perguntas se hai algo que che coste entender.
I've been studying Galician for many years, I'll follow the thread and respond to your questions if there's something you're having trouble understanding.

Hvala / Grazas / Thank you :)

Luckily, I speak a bit of Spanish, so I can get more resources than just English alone. Unfortunately, almost every resource is about Galician Culture, not language. So, lots of filtering!

“I think I will buy a book on learning the Galician language”

I did find this resource which I shall soon devour as I have eaten up most of YouTube’s English speaking resources

http://polymath.org/galician_vocabulary_list.php

There are several Spanish resources in YouTube but the audio is so backwashes and difficult to hear, their utility is low.
