Yup. In the South Asian subforum. We're going pretty slowly through the alphabet ATM.

You're pretty busy with moving and everything, though, right?

Yeah. I have been thinking about what to do regarding my language studies. I'm not quite sure how to go about things. It's almost like I want to keep learning languages but I'm feeling bored with the idea of trying to build up my vocabulary, make sure I keep up regular study, focus on moving through the CEFR levels, etc.

Maybe just don't worry too much about studying it regularly and study it however regularly you can and want? :hmm: I mean, even with the study groups, that's all I can really do myself. The study groups tend to die off (or "go dormant," if you want to make księżycowy happier :D) and be revived every now and then anyway.

I was trying to formulate a response to dEhiN myself earlier, but couldn't quite do so.

It's perfectly fine to have "dry" periods. It happens. Just keep at things as you are able. :)

Everyone is so willing to kill things! What is wrong with the world?

What's wrong with killing things if you can always bring them back to life? ;)

That's what's wrong with you kids these days. "What's the difference if we kill people? It's just a video game."

Languages have feelings, you know!

Yeah, but study groups don't! ;)

(EDIT: The people in the study groups are a different story).

Thanks for the pep talk guys! I think I'm experiencing study burnout because last year I was very regimented at first about studying Anki every day, and then about achieving weekly study goals. All of that kinda took the fun out of language learning.

I kinda feel ya. That's why I'm getting a bit more relaxed about goals vs life. Let things fall where they may.

I'm mainly just pushing myself with German and Polish. And even then I'm not beating myself up if I don't reach my goals for the week.

My language study has pretty much always been very unstructured. I think I used to try to introduce structure into it, but it never really works because life happens. You have to do all these lame, boring things, like eating and sleeping and taking a shower! Such pesky little nuisances when all you want to do is study some languages in peace!

Yes, I live under a huge rock. :P This is what happens when there's no point in going elsewhere throughout your childhood, I guess!

What does the first word mean? Google translate just gives me "retiring", although for the second word/phrase, I get "otaku basket weed"! :silly:
