Are you focusing on MSA and also learning/trying to learn Egyptian Arabic? Sorry, I think you probably explained this before, but I don't remember now.

Honestly, I just want to understand the language. The problem is that with the existing diglossia, they are making it very difficult

I started learning MSA, but then I realised that it was not enough to understand what people were saying. So now I started learning Egyptian dialect (mostly because my teacher is Egyptian).

But I am not really focusing on anything. The other day I finished to watch the “Al Hayba” series which were in another dialect (Lebanese, I think :hmm: ), and from time to time I also watch some videos from Maghrebi youtubers because here, it’s the most common dialect. So I really don’t know. I just wish I could understand the language without so many complications

Is there some particular purpose that you wish you could understand Arabic for, or a particular spoken variety you wish you could understand? After all, even native speakers don't understand most varieties of Arabic! Maybe it could help to pick a spoken variety to try to learn alongside MSA and then try to learn the other varieties later? I think that's effectively what I've been doing at least.

No, there’s not really a particular purpose, I just like the language, that’s all. Lately I am having a hard time about it. It appears that I don’t speak well the Egyptian dialect, that means, that I mix it with MSA. And I suppose that this may sound horrible to the ears of a native speaker.

So, now, my teacher, wants to focuse more on verb conjugation, grammar and stuff like that. And I don’t think I can take it. And after all, what’s the point for me. I am never going to live in an Arabic speaking country :|

I am already thinking of my new TAC. I definitely have to improve my Swedish. Maybe continue with Hebrew. And I am strongly wanderlusting for Syriac, Neo-Aramaic and Coptic. Lately, I am also wanderlusting for Greek (I think this is because of the Coptic alphabet).

I will maintain, or improve if possible, my level of German, Arabic, Russian, Italian and Portuguese (audio material).

And I would like to try Old Norse, though I don’t know really where to begin :hmm:

Well, I’m thinking about how to organise my next year TAC. But nowadays my objectives are really a mess. I don’t really know what language to continue with. For example my last year TAC was supposed to focus on Swedish and Hebrew. And I didn’t really achieve my objectives in any of them. Of course I have made some improvements, but not at the level I really wanted.

And moreover, I am wanderlusting for a lot of languages that I just know at a beginner level. For example I would like to continue learning Hindi, Chinese, Hebrew and Swedish. And I also would like to begin with “new” ones, like modern Greek or Turkish. And, from time to time, some ancient language are coming also to interfere with them (like Aramaic, Coptic and Syriac).

So I really don’t know how to organise this. Maybe this year, instead of setting “realistic “ goals, I am just going to start a general thread with whatever languages I would be learning at the moment and see where it will lead.
