Why do you think so? I haven't even started learning so many languages, he speaks a lot of languages which I do not know at all.

I think księżycowy directed this at Vijay.

I watched the Filipino movie "Baler".
I'll write more about it here maybe, but not today.

Did you have to use subs? If not, how much of it could you understand?

Yes, I watched it with subtitles. Generally I understood when they spoke Spanish, except some words. When they spoke Tagalog (most of the film) I wouldn't understand much without subtitles, I understood only separate words and some sentences, which contained familar vocabulary. But I read the subtitles all the time, because they often spoke fast.
I think the film can be hard to understand also because it is about war.
I wonder how much I would understand if the film had original subtitles, not English translation.
I think subtitles in original would be more useful for learning.

They can be, but in my experience you have to be willing to not necessarily understand everything or even the general gist. It depends on your general comprehension. Whenever I've tried watching something in French with French subs, I would about half to three-quarters of what was going on. Then I would rewatch it with English subs and get it 100%. In my case I would inevitably cave and watch the rest of the episodes with English subs. For movies it's different. I've never watched a French movie with French subs. I cave from the get-go and use English subs so I can follow the storyline.

Tok Pisin is no longer a part of my TAC. I decided that it's better to focus on a smaller number of languages, because quality is better that quantity.
I also changed my goals a little bit.

Are you still looking for movies in Tagalog to watch with English subtitles?

Just in case you are, I'd like to recommend Pinoy Sunday. :) (I haven't actually seen it yet, but I'd like to someday. :P To be fair, it's actually a Taiwanese movie and not entirely in Tagalog, and the subtitles are hard to read AFAICT, but it's still mostly in Tagalog).

Thank you for the recommendation! I will watch it when my Tagalog level improves.

I have found Indonesian textbooks for all levels!
I think I'm going to finish the first three of them (A1-B1) this year.

I'm very curious about those Indonesian textbooks. Are they solely in Indonesian?

I should download at least one of them and see, but I can't exactly at the moment.

Yes, unfortunately they're completely in Indonesian. But I think I'll be able to understand everything with the help of a dictionary. There is also audio for most of them.

But they're meant for Indonesian learners, right? I've never understood that: creating a language learning resource for a language that's completely in that language. I can understand school books that are meant for native speaking children, but I wouldn't think those type of books would reference the CEFR levels.

I think the books are supposed to be used with a teacher in a class, they're not for learning on your own.

I mean, I have some books that present the lessons all in the target language (German, Japanese, Norwegian, to name a few), but those are meant both for Learner's and include things that are in English so you can understand what's going on. :P
