Why? If you do that, I probably won't even check it. :P (I check the general forums way more often than the language-specific ones, especially since there are so much fewer of the former).

EDIT: Meanwhile, I've been making some progress with the poem I've been reading in Malayalam!

EDIT2: Speaking of which, why don't I write out the last two quatrains I've been trying to learn before I forget?

I was thinking it would be a good idea to have one thread dedicated to our effort, instead of spending it out over three or four seperate threads. And what other place would you put it?

It's not like you couldn't check it in the Chinese forum, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I think we could just have it in your TAC, but I see your point. We could have it in the Chinese forum instead.

The Chinese forum needs some love, after all.
[Well, a lot of the language specific subforums need some love, but we'll start with Chinese.]

I'm talking about the activity level in most subforums.

Yeah but I surprised that you re-got (?) interested in something that you were already interested in that many years ago.

I'd say, "got" instead of "re-got". I'm not even sure if "re-got" is possible in GA.

And I've been interested in Chinese (in one form or another) since my teens. I never got uninterested. It's just that life got in the way for a while.

I'm not Vijay, I have a set of linguistic interests that I always come back to. :P

So, I'm thinking if we don't hear back from dEhiN by the end of today (UTC -5), I'm gonna start a thread in the Chinese subforum and we can start going through TME.

You win, Vijay. It's just easier to use that textbook, cause it's all already online for all of us. If it was just the two of us, or if SAH was online, I'd go for that in a heart beat.

EDIT: Or do you?

I guess not, but right now, I don't really mind except for this goddamn word for 'excuse me'! :P

Which it gets from me. :P

I think he meant "got interested again."

Yeah, but they're so geographically wide-ranging they might as well be mine anyway!

Yes, but they are no Papuan or Amazonian languages or some other really obscure shit (well, aside from Iroquioan and Pama–Nyungan). :P

Speaking of wide-ranging languages, what are your thoughts on Zulu?

Ohh, you mean you want to be de-modded and have the Chinese forum become a Sino-Tibetan forum?

Speaking of wide-ranging languages, what are your thoughts on Zulu?

Xhosa and Zulu are the next two Bantu languages I would like to learn (simultaneously since I have both Complete Xhosa and Complete Zulu and they're mutually intelligible, at least to some degree).

I only have Complete Zulu. But I've thought of picking up Xhosa too, at various times.

When shall we start? 5 minutes sound good to you?

Oh, and Ticuna was a momentary laspe on my part.

You're a few years too late.

More seriously, though, we've only just started Seneca and Amoy Hokkien, and I haven't fulfilled my obligations yet regarding your other languages! (Let alone mine :doggy: :P which I'm trying to do at more or less the same time :D).

Speaking of my own languages, I've started trying to make sure I have the first 58 quatrains of Mayūra Sandēśam AND all of my vocabulary from the lists I've been building up on my personal threads memorized.

Why would you have to link me to Memrise? I have access to the same grammar you have, you know. :P

Now, the real question regarding Arrernte (and Zulu) is whether you actually want to get into those before actually doing stuff for your other languages. ;)

I mean, I wouldn't mind doing a little something with them. But it'd probably be a crawl.
