Watched a short, silly video in Spanish
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zra7Lprs12k

Thinking I'll watch Jagga Jasoos this weekend. It's been a while since I've had any listening practice in Urdu.

Read a short piece (¿Por qué se habla tan mal inglés en España?) in Spanish, for whatever reason.

New vocab
tartamudear - to stutter, stammer
torpe - hopeless; awkward
se me da fatal hablar - I'm terrible at speaking
sí ó sí - no matter what
quedarse en blanco - to draw a blank, go blank
cole - primary school, elementary school
a mi entender - to my understanding, in my understanding

O aquí no debería llevar tilde.

Eskandar Bhai, I think maybe you've mentioned this somewhere before, but what kind of literature do you have to read in Italian? Is it connected in some way to your studies of Islamicate languages?

¡Me lleva!

Yeah, basically I need to read a bunch of stuff by Alessandro Bausani which hasn't been translated.

Progress update: finished disc 6 of MT Italian. Watched Jagga Jasoos which wasn't great, but was good Urdu practice nonetheless.

Yeah... That's what I get for not reading anything about a movie before watching it! I liked the song from it "Ulloo ka Patha" that was posted in the Hindi/Urdu songs thread, so I downloaded the movie.

To be fair, that's kind of like what happened with the last Malayalam movie I watched (in bits and pieces). I've known the songs from it for years, and I read about the plot on Wikipedia. It sounded pretty bad already, but I was curious about just how bad it was, and...yeah, it's pretty awful. :P It's a little overhyped because it was Mohanlal's first major movie (in fact, all three of the lead actors were brand-new to the Malayalam movie industry).

I'm really bored with Duolingo and Michel Thomas. I need something new to do with Italian. I might just try to jump into the Italian readers I have and look up lots of words. I also haven't had the time/motivation to work on Arabic, but I should try to get back to the Kalila wa Dimna reader.
