I mean, how could you sleep well when you know that your dreams will be full of broken Hebrew and Irish?

If I lost sleep over stuff like that, I'd never sleep a night in my life. :P

Bujikeda means 'mother cat' in Enindhilyagwa. 'Dugong' in Kala Lagaw Ya is apparently dhangal(a). In Meriam Mir, it's deger. I think I also just learned how to say "hi" in Nicaraguan Sign Language.

Also, here are the words for colors in Dinka according to the video I posted on the Dinka thread, plus some words from this video, which I should post there next time I post there. I think the word for 'butterfly' may be a loanword from Arabic or maybe even Hebrew btw:

Red = malual
Reddish = ke thiith
White = mabiör
Green = maŋök
Yellow = makec
Black = macär
Gray = mayɛn
Black and white = acith(?)
Stomach = yäc (rising tone)
Elephant = akɔ̈ɔ̈n (low-mid-low)
Ostrich = wur/wut (rising tone)
Drum = bul/lɔ̈ɔ̈r (falling tones)
Butterfly = pärpär
Person = raan

"It's a lie, Your Honor! I did help him with his Spanish and his Portuguese, multiple times!"
"THE HERETIC LIES!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!!"
"NO! If you're going to burn me at the stake, do it for the right reason: because I'm an atheist, not because I supposedly failed in my duties as a free language resource! :roll:"
"TAKE HIM AWAY!"
"NO! NOOOOOO!!!"
(My God, our humor on this forum is so morbid :lol:).

All the worse with Japanese, cause apparently I'm a weeaboo (or so Vijay claims!). Can't be having my anime styled dreams in broken Japanese!

Corrections aren't offers of help. An offer of help would be like "oh I see you're at a lower level than me; is there anything I could help you with, perhaps explain for you?" :lol:

My jokes aren't morbid. They're factual.

Yes, exactly! You can be factual and morbid at the same time!

But I did that, too!!! :doggy: Just on Skype, where I never am anymore. :P Well, at least I think I did.

Omg my last seven posts were all on this thread, not counting the ones in the word association thread (which aren't counted in my post count anyway)! :lol:

Did you? Oh, then I'm sorry. I have a bad memory (except when it comes to languages).

Why aren't they counted?

Or maybe I'm the one who does, in which case I'm the one who's sorry. :P

Why aren't they counted?

Because they're in the games forum. I've noticed that none of those posts are counted in your post count next to your posts, although they are counted when you view a user's posts!

So I made two posts on r/learnthai and two on r/tagalog. I have two more posts to make on r/indonesia, too, and a native speaker in a comment for another post of mine there has asked me whether he can help with anything. This is not the first time one of them has asked that. I wonder what I could ask them, though.

I guess I'll figure out something eventually one way or another, and I just replied. :P

Now I've posted about Indonesian and even Swahili, just to add resources to their respective subreddits, but I still haven't posted in r/hindi or r/asl because the posts I wanted to write there would require me to take the effort of actually writing something. :silly: I'll probably start the last chapter of Practical Chinese Reader III soon! My brother's coming over, and we'll finally have Christmas dinner since we couldn't yesterday.

So now I've posted stuff everywhere except in r/asl, written some comments on a few subs, read Unit 9 of Basic Chinese, and FINISHED PRACTICAL CHINESE READER III! :whoo: (I mean, I'll still use it for vocab lists at least, but I've finished reading it). I think I'll go through Unit 10 of Basic Chinese, too.

Heh, obrigado! (I just finished reading Unit 10, too, but I'm still going through the exercises. I'm lucky the units in this book are so short, at least sometimes, like now :P).

I started reading Chapter 16 of Practical Chinese Reader IV (which is the first chapter in that book as it's a continuation of Practical Chinese Reader III). Also, here are some new vocabulary items in Khoekhoe and Fijian, followed by a list of words and phrases I should know in Tagalog but forgot:

'Good evening' in Khoekhoe is ǃgâi ǃoes according to Wikipedia. In Fijian, kava is called yaqona, 'how are you' informally is sa vakacava tiko, 'house' is spelled <vale> (not <bale> because then it would be prenasalized!), 'Fiji' is indeed Viti, and 'the Fijian language' is na vosa vaka-Viti.

barely surviving = nakakaraos naman
just surviving = humihinga pa
good (enough?) = maigi
see you tomorrow (calque on Spanish?) = hanggang bukas
quick = maagap
diligent = masipag
ceiling = kisame
flower = bulaklak
door = pintô/pintuan
mountain = bundok
grass = damo
garlic = bawang
soy sauce = toyo (from Hokkien 豆油 tāu-iû!)
beans = sitaw
squash = kalabasa
cabbage = repolyo
call = tawag
give me a call, okay? = tawagan mo na lang ako

I guess I'll just post on r/papuan what I figured out of the Oirata creation myth recorded by de Josselin de Jong, i.e. the original text in Oirata, the translation, and the vocabulary. Then maybe I can post a link to Klamer's grammar for Teiwa.
