When I become World President, it will become the law.

For everyone to learn Japanese, Biblical Hebrew, and Irish? Or just for me?

I can just imagine the political progressives talking about linguistic policies ("why are we required to learn one language that's dead and another that's about to die?! What are we ever going to do with them?").

Both.

But especially the latter.

See, if I make it the law, Irish can't possibly die. I will force it's survival. (Bad joke to some I'm sure.)

"...and make sure he studies Japanese, Biblical Hebrew, and Irish every day!!"
"...so he thought he was speaking Levantine, but he was actually speaking Moroccan! HAHAHA"
"Vijay, have you studied your Japanese, Biblical Hebrew, and Irish today?"
"Uh...yeah! Tá mé--"
"NOT GOOD ENOUGH! バカヤロー!"
"すみませ~ん "
"In Kansai!"
"すんまへ〜ん"
"With appropriate emojis!"
"ええと..."
"You can't speak Japanese without appropriate emoji use!! All right, moving along. How much Biblical Hebrew do you know?"
"Bereshit. :para: ..........Lekh lekha?"
" "

I remembered bereshit bara' Elohim after I wrote that, but I decided to keep it that way. :P Besides, I didn't know anything after that; I was thinking bereshit bara' Elohim...ha-olam? Nope!

I should have worked in a reference to Judaism and hell, though.

Okay, so I've moved on from Arabic now. I could only stay there so long. I just posted some stuff for Amharic and have been learning a little. Next up is Dinka; I'm wondering whether to post in one of the word association games before or after posting something about that language...I'll probably do it after.

In fact, you know what? Maybe I'll do Krio before English instead of after. Then I can do Swahili after English, and then Hindi after that, followed by ASL, Thai, etc.

I ended up doing these languages in the order I originally assigned for myself. :P So now, all I have left is some Southeast Asian languages, two Australian languages, and four languages indigenous to the Americas! (Which to be honest is still a lot  But at least it means I'm more than halfway done, and I just started this TAC round less than a month ago! Of course, that's in part because I've also been struggling to review Mayura Sandesam lately, which is my prerequisite for reviewing almost any of my other resources).

Why is that a prerequisite?

Because that's what I've been doing to try to make sure that I regularly practice some Malayalam apart from just talking to my parents or something and don't lose (or keep losing) it. Needless to say, Malayalam is important to me personally in a way that no other language really is.

All right, I just finished going through all the languages on my TAC here on UL! (I've also been through most of them on Reddit. I haven't actually done anything for the last two languages (Lnuismk and Michif) this time around because I can't seem to find anybody on Reddit who speaks it, and anyway, I don't really have much to add to existing posts on the most relevant subs). It ended up taking me exactly one month and one week, and that was in part because I deliberately stalled with Arabic (and possibly also Hindi/Urdu).

Well, post in more than one game thread and then you won't have to! :P

(I confess, though, that you reminded me of a quote from Donald Duck's mother: "Half a mind is all you have, you mangy hayseed!!").

It's a good thing you didn't actually buy it. You probably would've been wasting money on something that would give you less useful information than I would.

So, I've been practicing a bunch of languages on Reddit, especially what I like to call "cold-weather languages." (These are basically languages spoken in places where it snows sometimes :silly:). However, the weather's been fairly warm for the past few days, so I've been trying to take advantage of the opportunity to switch over to "warm-weather languages." :) I listen to LangMedia sometimes, too, and watch stuff on YouTube sometimes. LangMedia isn't all that useful for Amharic but is for Swahili, Thai, and Indonesian/Malay, not to mention BCS/Serbo-Croatian, Russian, and Turkish.
