I just realized, that even I know fully well the different levels of love and hate in Japanese and have an understanding of what each means, I'm not sure how I'd honestly react to someone saying "嫌いです" to me. Like, I'll know that I should be deeply offended, but would I feel so offended? Then again, I honestly can't say that a properly said "I hate you" in English really offends me no matter how much emotion is wrapped in that utterance.

Now I wonder how I'd feel about someone even saying they "大好きだ" rather than just "好きだ"… :hmm: (and really mean it of course, not just saying it because they think it means "I really like you" )

I should try and translate my curse from the random thread into Danish! It would be so fun  I should make a list of words I'll need first (then I can review later!) before attempting a translation though.

Who do I think I am kidding? I should just add Japanese to the title. I'm doing it in school, basically is the only language I'm actively learning everyday, do it way more than Danish ( ), and it's Japanese. I mean, c'mon.

I need more Danish study pals :doggy:

My Icelandic children's book Er ég lítil? came in last week and now I see how weak I am. I only understand the first few pages which read "This Tamia." "Tamia is a little girl." Then I need to dictionary "einmitt" and "akkatur" (which I assume is "exactly!") and every other adjective that is introduced in the story except "smá."

Sono un po' triste ché* pensavo che il libro fosse di una volpe, ma è in realtà di una ragazza chiamata Tamia :( Che deprimente!

* sì, so che questa parola è antica e non venga usata molto oggi.

I just learned the most important Japanese word I need to know: タビオカティー.

Jeg drak nylig bubble te :?: , og jeg elsker den! Den er så god! Det er som en te, der æder du!

One goal this week is to translate this piece of conversation I had with Patato last night into Italian, Danish, Icelandic, and maybe even Japanese. The second two the most since I have less experience in those.

Me: I hate white socks.
Patato: I hate white people.
Me: Ugh, same.
Patato: That's racist! :o I'm white!
Me: I'm half-white!
Patato: Yeah, but, still

My go at Italian:

Io: Detesto i calzini bianchi.
Patato: Detesto le persone bianche.
Io: Puah! Anch'io.
Patato: Quel è razzista! :o Sono bianco!
Io: E io sono mezzobianco!
Patato: Sì, ma, tuttavia

Beh, era facile :P

Hmm, why "io?" I wouldn't expect this to be an instance where one uses pronouns :hmm:

Because Patato's emphasizing that he specifically is part of the group you're saying you hate in that dialog, i.e. "I'm white!"

Here's Danish:

Jeg: Jeg hader hvide sokker.
Patato: Jeg hader hvidefolk.
Jeg: Samme.
P: Det er rasistisk!* :o Jeg er hvid!
Jeg: Jeg er halvhvid!
P: Ja, men

* copied from Swedish since couldn't find actual Danish word; also couldn't find suitable translation for "still" (no matter anyway, that line I assume is what he said anyway. He said basically the same if not what I said he said…)

Dovrei tradurre più spesso delle parte delle conversazioni dalla mia vita :hmm: Sì, mostrerebbe quanto noiosa che è in realtà, ma sarebbe un modo da cui potrei assimilare le lingue.

*Personally I wouldn't use the partitive there, but I can't say it's wrong.

**A better option is quanto è noiosa.

Personally wouldn't have either, but didn't know if it was optional here :?

**A better option is quanto è noiosa.

Thank you! So many constructions I must learn  Italian grammar is much more strict than English.
