TAC 2016 Koko — Italiano, Dansk

Postby Koko » 2015-12-22, 6:29

Well dEhiN, you have won the race for 2015, but we shall see me rise to victory this 2016!

My priority list:

Italiano
Dansk
日本語
Íslenska
Lietuviškai

Chiaramente, non riesco a mantenere neanche due lingue! È la bellezza della mia lista; studio prima l'italiano e il danese, le altre tre lingue vengono seconda. Tutti dovrebbero conoscire la ragione perché l'italiano è una priorità

I really want to improve my Danish to a level similar to my Italian. I hope that once there, Icelandic will be easy ^^

Japanese is not really a priority this TAC because next semester (starting Feb) I have Japanese, so it would be too tiring to be working on three languages in my spare time when one of those I'm already working on in school.

Lithuanian, well… I've already kinda been neglecting it, so no harm there. I think I may even replace her with Czech.

Hopefully I actually accomplish something this TAC

Quando ho prima cominciato a usare quella risorse a cui ho fatto cenno, c'era un problema che trovavo con imparare il danese e l'islandese allo stesso tempo: quando leggo "sj" in islandese dico [ɕ] invece di [sj] Vabbé, non è una grande sfida non dirlo.

Beh… Það er sagt* nánast sem "Hitler."

Ég tala ekki íslensku, so don't trust my corrections too much. ;)

I'm not sure if "lika við + inf." is wrong, but somehow it sounds unlikely to me.

That should give you enough forms to choose from: http://bin.arnastofnun.is/leit/?q=segja (in fact, I looked for the neuter participle because I wasn't aware of a supine - is it always the same?)

Well, thanks anyways :) However, I thought that predicative adjectives were in the masculine, like German? Or was it that like in German, there's one gender that's used for predicates (but unlike German this gender is the neuter)?

Mange takk for resursen! I have no idea if the supine is always the same as the neuter participle, I was going off of what wiktionary said. I'll find a grammar or something that will explain verbs  (maybe later)

Ekki "frá Kanada"?

Ég er frá Bandaríkin. :P

Literally yes, but it's also the way you tell someone it's nice to meet them for the first time, apparently. Even though we technically know each other better than that by now. :P

If I'm not completely wrong, it agrees with the subject, so for málið it's neuter. In German, the predicative form is neither the masculine nor the neuter one, it's a form without any ending.

I have no idea if the supine is always the same as the neuter participle, I was going off of what wiktionary said.

That's okay, what I'm doing isn't much different. ;) Anyway, I did some googling now and it seems that supine and neuter past participle is indeed the same.

vijayjohn wrote:Ekki "frá Kanada"?

Hm... "Kanada" must be the Icelandic word with the most boring declension. :)

Yeah, you're right :) Icelandic adjectives always agree apparently.

Good to know! Takk!

I'm going to always decline Kanada as a singular feminine noun. It deserves more forms!

What about other countries? It doesn't look like Bandaríkin is declined, either.

The website I linked to above says Bandaríkin, Bandaríkin, Bandaríkjunum, Bandaríkjanna. That looks definitely more interesting than four times Kanada.

Just as you decline Bandaríkin, you also decline Ítalía, Pólland, and other countries. Kanada is pretty alone in being the same in all four cases.

"Ipse er frá Ítalíu. Patrislav er frá Póllandi. Beispiel er frá Danmörku. Vijay, þú ert frá Bandaríkiunum. Kevin, hann er frá Þýskalandi. Ég, oh ég er frá Kanada, ekki frá Kanadu." >.>
