The song is Yanıyoruz by Burak King. The city where the video was filmed is the magnificent Mardin.

My Arabic day went well and I did all that I planned.

The Syrian series I'm watching is this:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfH0wB ... -ngb1gxWlw

The name is بدون قيد (Undocumented). You need to start with the episode named البداية (Beginning), and then continue with the 3 story lines in the order you decide.

Tomorrow is a Turkish day.
I'm going to
- add 1 or more songs by Muzaffer Badıllı into LWT (they are actually not songs but narrations)
- read a chapter or more of "İnce Memed" by Yaşar Kemal

(tr)
I did three Turkish poems yesterday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2FuecYMv14
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnVEO4EJU80 - this one I especially liked
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZVuY3jkTrc

and there were only 4 new words in total in all of them.

It means that poems (or this kind of poems in particular) are not too good for me for increasing my vocabulary... but then I like them a lot, so dropping them is not an option. I will supplement them with other stuff, probably Turkish school books.

Also novels are a great source of new words but I prefer to do extensive reading with them rather than intensive. Speaking of novels, I didn't read İnce Memed yesterday (I was going to say I was busy but let's face it, the only reason is procrastination).

(ar) I read the surah "Yasin".

(ku) Today is a Kurdish day! I'm going to:

- Do one song (or more) by the rapper Rezan.
- Start revising part 2 of the textbook Hînker (Teacher). There is a deck for it on Memrise. I'm going to revise the words on Memrise and read the texts from chapter 1 named Bibîrxistin (Revision). There are 8 chapters in total.

Today
(ku)
- I did this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOS6aLB04y4
- I revised the words from Chapter 1 of Hînker, but I didn't have time to read the texts. I will keep revising the words until my next Kurdish day, and then I'll do the book. And I'll do one more Rezan's song.

Tomorrow
(ar-sy)
- I'll do this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEqsDOblmSs (it's a pretty dark song about how Russians bombed Syria, put on the melody of famous Russian Katyusha)
- I'll finish watching story 1 of the series بدون قيد

Yes, it is great. It was recommended to me by my Syrian friend.

I didn't do anything on Saturday, so today I changed my Turkish day with an Arabic day and did everything I planned for Arabic.

Tomorrow
(ku) I'll do
- the song Elif Biyani - Welatê Min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUYSRFlLLF8
- the fairy tale Pîrê û Rovî https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUm-B1PArd4
(I actually translated and explained a part of it in my Kurdish thread thread here viewtopic.php?p=1084279#p1084279)

I've decided not to do Hînker 2 at the moment. It's too tiring to read from the computer screen. I'm going to Turkey again in 1 month, so I'll wait until I buy it in paper there (together with Hînker 3).

I had this book in paper, but when I was leaving Turkey it was just after the coup d'etat attempt, and it could cause trouble if they found it on me at the airport, so I threw it away -- together with my Kurdish certificate which I now only have a photo of.

I watched the first video of بدون قيد just because of this thread, but I don't really get what it's about (yet). :P

Just keep watching! :)

Yesterday there was a problem at work so I spent the whole day working and couldn't do languages (this time for real, no procrastination). I'll just skip my Kurdish day ( ) and do Arabic according to the schedule.

(ar-sy)
I'll do a video from Langmedia.

Also I want to add that I like my "one day one language" schedule a lot. It keeps me from diverging. I had considered doing only one language for a longer time (several months) -- as popular recommendations go -- but I think I'll get bored quickly, as switching languages adds extra fun.

I was super lazy today and didn't do a thing, not even my Anki routine.
Let's just move my Arabic day to tomorrow.

On a side note: thanks to Anki I can now quantitatively see how much harder it is for me to memorize Arabic words than Turkish or Kurdish ones. I have all the decks set up in the same way (20 new words per day), and each day I have 2 times more cards to review for Arabic than for the other two. It means I forget more and need shorter intervals.

Why? Is it perhaps still because of the Arabic script (after several years of being familiar with it)?

Anyway I hope that now with my newly found passion for Anki, I will be able to cram them into my head.

And it's just about time that you post something in the Person after me in the Arabic dialects thread -- my favorite thread in the Arabic subforum. :)
