Also in casual speech, I think people are more likely to say "...that you dislike and why". Saying "the reason for it" sounds very formal.

Éistim, ach bheadh dúil agam i níos mó ceol roc agus miotal trom as Gaelainn.
Yes, but I wish there was more rock and metal in Irish.

Tá an duine im dhiaidh éisteacht le ceol roc.
The person below me listens to rock music.

Yes, but I would desire more rock and metal in Irish.

Beagán ciotach. Cad é an locht atá 'gat ar "Ba bhreá liom.." nó "Mairg ná fuil..."?

księżycowy wrote:Tá an duine im dhiaidh ag éisteacht le ceol roc.
The person below me listens to rock music.

If the meaning is habitual (which is what the translation suggests), I'd prefer Bíonn...ag éisteacht or Éisteann

Wait, so is what I wrote wrong? Sorry, I kinda get what you said, but not clearly.

I wondered if ag was necessary here or not. The rest is user error. :P
I also was tempted to use éisteann, but ended up using .

Not wrong, just awkward (ciotach). I tried to provide a more literal English translation of what you actually said to point up the difference. Dúil just doesn't seem to be used to express wishes in contemporary Irish.
