Sorry, I should've been more precise when I told you about apocope (which I incorrectly called elision); it's not possible to apocopate everything! Definitely not prepositions. I don't know a precise rule but the words that you can apocopate are not that many. I'll try to look for more detailed info but if I were you, I wouldn't worry about that too much and would avoid it altogether.
