The IE "try something new" broken translation game

Postby Æxylis » 2009-12-27, 7:33

Hello all...
This game is inspired by the moonspeak translation game.
The idea of this game is to take a group of less-known languages within a particular broader group of languages and make a btg out of them. I thought this would inspire people to learn more less-known and perhaps even endangered languages.
(This was actually Riptide's idea originally, but I thought it'd be fun to expand it to other groups as he wanted to do it for Austronesian languages)
Anyway, you're welcome to suggest other languages for this game but I'll add a few to begin with...
Since this is the Indo-European language game, we can have any type of language from within this family.

Armenian
Gaelic
Welsh
Breton
Icelandic
Nynorsk
Frisian
Faroese
Romansch
Romanian
Aromanian
Sorbian
Latvian
Lithuanian
Prussian
Punjabi
Gujarati

Riptide said he's in for Aromanian :D

This is just a sample list, but if there are any neat ones you can think of, you're welcome to suggest them. :D

I don't really see the point in these 3 games, when Moonspeak + In The Dark already didn't work out.

I just thought it'd be nice if people showed more interest in endangered languages

Uhm, your list is not exactly a list of endangered languages (Lithuanian, Latvian, Punjabi, Icelandic etc.?!) but I really like the idea of having a BTG with lesser-studied languages. You can count me in for Frisian anytime, but I have my doubts too if this is going to go any better than the previous ones. :(
