pee shy

Postby linguoboy » 2017-03-08, 20:48

In American English, when someone has difficulty urinating in the presence of others (such as in a public restroom), we say they are "pee shy" or describing them as "having a shy bladder". Are there similar fixed terms in other languages?

I don't think there's a specific German term for that. It's just "ich kann nicht wenn einer guckt". Interesting to know that English has one. Is it AmE specific?
Thank you for correcting mistakes!

I've never heard this. From a quick search I would say that the term technically exists, but nobody knows it.

I'm pretty sure that 95+ percent of Italian-speakers don't know those words. I would say [flag=]it[/flag] avere la vescica timida (having a shy bladder).

I've never heard vejiga tímida, or a common term for this at all.

I'd probably just say a ese le da pena orinar en baño público to translate 'he's pee-shy'.
