(1) Svenska akademiens ordbok (SAOB), entry "aska" (1902): "ETYMOLOGI: [...] holl. asch"
(2) Engelsch woordenboek, Tweede del, nederlandsch–engelsch, Nieuwe [derde?] uitgave (Te Groningen bij J. B. Wolters, sine anno [probably early 1900's]): "Asch, v. ashes" (and for completeness' sake: "As, v. axle, axis")
Looking at the years, can it be a somewhat older form? (That's the newest Dutch lexica I have...) I suggest to put it the way I do now, but if it's not to your liking feel free to remove/change!
