Now you've got me imagining that shadoof is the sound of dropping a bucket into the well and then dumping the bucket of water into another container. Sha when you drop the bucket down the well, doof when you raise it and dump the water out. Shadoof, shadoof, shadoof.
It's actually from Arabic شادوف‎ though.

I found three different explanations for the origin of yoni: from the name "Johnny", from the word "United", and from the written form of "INY".
