When you exchange your newer cell for an older one, just because it supports more languages of the interface, even though you'll eventually end up using it just in your native language or English.

When you read multilingual manuals and infos even when you're on the toilet and even if the manual's pertaining to panty liners. :)

I can't remember a time when I didn't do this, even as a kid. Because of NAFTA, a lot of products had trilingual labeling, so I liked trying to figure out what they said, even if the result was nonsense.

When your Idea of a perfect friday night is staying home or at your favorite cafe studdying your languages.

When more than half your bookshelf is all language books.

When UZ translations is your homepage or your most visted website.

When you go to a foreign resturant just because it gives you an opprutinty to practice that language.

When you wake up every morning swearing you will only stick with one langauge but by night time you have read about three more. :(

When you swore you'd spend this autumn learning Hindi, but wound up being distracted by Japanese, and ended up learning neither, but German instead.

When you can't get a song out of your head and it's in a foreign language.

This one only applies to native English speakers, though ;)

When you download materials for languages you don't care about "just in case" you want to learn them some day.
When reading about weird languages (like OSV word order, click languages, etc) is FUN.
When you have a language learning materials folder and it is over 120GB, and you have more stuff scattered elsewhere on your computer.
When you think about getting a bigger external HDD so you can download MORE things you'll never use for languages you'll never learn.

When language learning, sadly, is more important to you than anything else in life and the tiniest little fuck-up makes you feel like shit. :para:

...and you know that both of those appear in Star Wars.

When you are writting an essay for school you stop every two seconds because you thought of a word to look up in your target language.

When you and your language nerd freind have all day discussions about which language to learn.

When you can't stop flipping through your international radio section on itunes because you can't decide which language you want to listen too.

When you watch House Hunters International marathons every friday night just to hear if the people will say something in another language.

It's sad how much of this applies to me.

Yes and yes. God, I love OSV so much.

Oooh! I'm not alone! :O

When nearly every train of thought ends in something language related.

When you enact fantasy battles in your head(Unless you're by yourself) in a foreign language (I think I may be the only one for this :X I am a dork).

I have a lot of language nerd friends, but they're not as hardcore as most Unilangers. They'd be happy with French, Spanish, German and Japanese and wouldn't get why anyone would want to learn, say, Urdu. I only wish I had a friend who was knowledgeable about more obscure languages.
When you can't stop flipping through your international radio section on itunes because you can't decide which language you want to listen too.
How about every time I listen to the radio? Or browse Wikipedia?

I also submit "you get excited when you suddenly hear someone speaking another language and try immediately to see if you can understand it, and if not, figure out what it is". This happens nearly every time I watch the news.
Yes and yes. God, I love OSV so much.
You mean "OSV you love so much", hmm? Like Yoda you speak!

I do this all the time. Especially if I'm out and hear someone I try to guess what it is and then I wanna go ask them :P

You know your a language nerd when your entire room is decorated like the country of your target langauge.

You Know your a language nerd when you beg your parents to get televison stations in your target langauge.

When you have so many flashcards you can't count them any more.

That's what I'm trying to work on right now aha.

When you will zealously object when someone tells you your language is useless.

When you doodle in class/at work in foreign languages.

When you try and translate your thoughts into different languages.

When you learn a new script just as something to entertain you for a while.
