They have a whole bucketload of languages. It makes Teach Yourself seem inferior by comparison. I've never wanted to learn French more. :P

Their Persian sans peine course is quite a gem in particular. It's the most complete package out there for Persian.

Assimil is a damn good motivator for learning French. I'll readily admit that! :P

Assimil Persian is a very nice book indeed. The Turkish one is a gem too, with funny texts, useful vocabulary and a detailed and complete grammar exposition (and it's the only language book I got through completely!). However their Arabic book became a disappointment for me (even though all three books have the same person as their author or one of the authors - Dominique Halbout). It started well but soon became a collection of difficult texts full of useless vocabulary, while not teaching basic everyday stuff.

Which is due to it teaching MSA no doubt.

I have Assimil Lebanese Arabic, but I'm going to learn MSA first I guess. :) Anyway, unlike the Egyptian, Tunisian and Algerian ones, this one doesn't have any audio. It's a shame. :?

I'm surprised that 'so many' other people (at least two!) have copies of the (questionably titled) Practical Manx.

Incidentally, may I ask where you got hold of the book called 'Tamil Language In Context', and whether you think it's any good? I've previously searched for Tamil resources but haven't come across that one.

The material may not exactly be practical but it's the most comprehensive (and the only) book out their for understanding Manx grammar. But a prior knowledge of another Gaelic language would help.

I got it off of Amazon, and I think it's plenty good. It teaches both formal and colloquial side-by-side, for one, and it's loaded with useful vocabulary. My only qualm is the formatting; it seems like it was the author's thesis.

You reminded me that I've been meaning to picture my collect (at least in part), thanks for reminding me, Mike. :)
