Is this the right forum to ask about Tamil? And if so, are there any Tamil speakers here?

Absolutely.

Sometimes! I know some Tamil, even though I don't list it in my profile, but that's mostly (I think) passive knowledge because I speak Malayalam (it's my heritage language), which is closely related.

Well, thanks for the reply :)

If there was one, I would ask them to translate a few sentences from English to Tamil for me, and tell me how to pronounce them.

Otherwise do you know any other forums where the Tamil section might be more active?

If you post them here, they might eventually respond with a translation, if not necessarily a pronunciation that you'll find helpful enough.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with too many forums just in general, sorry. :(

I'm a Tamil person: I was born in Sri Lanka. I do have to admit, I don't know that much Tamil (because I grew up in Canada), but if it's translations you're looking for, post them here or PM me. I can ask my parents who are fluent, native speakers.
