Get an Icelandic dictionary. Icelandic and Faroese are REALLY close as written languages.

My mom is Faroese from both sides :D (as well as some Danish)

I have recently contacted relatives from there, so I am planning on learning Faroese. I know a lot of Danish. So, can someone help me off by telling/translating to me what these words mean to Faroese:

My name is Eric.

My mother is Faroese and a little bit of Danish.

I speak a little bit of English.

It's sorta lika:

Fø-rist

ø is like the Danish and Norwegian ø, and Swedish and German ö.
Gløgt er gestsins eyga. (Føroyskt orðafelli)
Wise is the stranger's eye. (Faroese saying)
L'occhio dell'ospite è acuto. (Proverbio faroico)
Hosťovo oko je múdre. (Faerské uslovie)

Mulder, i recently looked up Franke...i had made a big mistake...she wasnt Norwegian. She was Faroese and a little bit of Danish. I had confused the two....So what does the last name Franke mean in Faroese...and what is the Faroese spelling?

Sorry about the late reply.

Franke. Hmm. It doesn't sound Faroese, since native Faroese words never end with -e (the Faroese cognate is -i). So, the surname is probably Danish.

Someone asked for a Faroese dictionary:

www.sprotin.fo

However, it's not free. I haven't checked it properly, but I doubt that the fee is that high.

So Franke in Faroese must have been Franki?

Yes, but only IF it's Faroese, which I find highly unlikely. Faroese wasn't officially recognised as a school subject until 1937, and wasn't made official until 1948. So, if it's any, it's probably Danish, and thus Franke.

If you're talking about big noses, then I'm offended.

I'm half Armenian, and all Armenians have big noses. I'm also a cheat and I sell carpets.

The other half's Irish.
I cook some pretty good potatos (when there not blighted).
I'm also drunk.

Every ethnicity is weird... so, reletively speaking, every ethnicity is normal.

Faroese sounds like icelandic and all t-,r-,s- and -j have been changed to -TSCH and DJ.

i keep hearing like [t3ui3], which to me sounds like þrír.

Well, actually, I myself find Faroese a sounds harder than Icelandic, à la Norwegian and Danish. k's instead of g's etc.

I'm not sure what you mean, but tj is [tS] and sj is [S], yes.

And I don't think, that [3] exists in Faroese. But don't quote me on that, since I'm no phonetics expert.
