It is for me, and I don't get any message about the certificate not being in order either...

Maybe you just followed a link that left out the s? AFAIK it's still possible to access the forum via plain old http, and unfortunately you won't get redirected automatically.

Okay, thanks! Yes, indeed the first google result I get directs to the mere http version, and that's what I used. Silly me, I realise now that I could have just added the s to the URL line. But this makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better if the http address just redirected everyone to the https address?

Yeah, especially ever since the issue about the certificate was sorted out way back. Not that the certificate was ever bad, it was just that the name on it wasn't unilang.org, but rather proycon's domain, so some browsers issued a warning.

In any case, I've contacted him about it.

Right, I'll have a look soon to make sure everything redirects to HTTPS, I made an issue on github as well: https://github.com/proycon/unilangforum/issues/20

If the site is on Apache, basically that's all you need:

Code: Select all

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =unilang.org [OR]
RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =www.unilang.org
RewriteRule ^ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [END,QSA,R=permanent]

Except that the server name "www" seems to only be on HTTP. I tried both "http://www.unilang.org" and "https://www.unilang.org" and both directed me to "http://ww.unilang.org". It's only the server name "forum" that seems to accept both HTTP and HTTPS connections.

I noticed a bug for the Wikipedia page associated with one of the language flags. The flag alt [flag=]alt[/flag], which refers to the Altai language, incorrectly takes the user to this Wikipedia page for which there is no article. The correct Wikipedia page should be this one, as far as I can tell.

If I try to send a private message, but although I get the message of " your message has been sent", in fact the message get stuck in the "outbox file" (that, by the way, I don't know what it is or what is its purpose) and I don't see it in the file of "sent messages ", does it means it has been sent or not? :hmm:

Don't worry, the message has been sent.
It will stay in the outbox folder until the person you sent it to logs in and actually reads it. This means you can edit the message (or even delete it) if you want to during this period.

Huh, I didn't know that! That works differently then from say MS Outlook, or other mail programs. With Outlook, from what I remember, a message stays in your outbox folder until it gets sent, and then once it's sent that's it.

Because e-mail programs can't check other people inboxes on other files on other machines to see if they're read, but on this forum everything is on a single database.

That makes sense. (By the way, how do I say this in Portuguese? I know in French it's "ça a du raison".)

I thought it was "ça a du sens." Also, raison is feminine, so *du raison would be ungrammatical.

In Portuguese, AFAICT it's isso faz sentido, just like in English.

How come the flag for Old French doesn't seem to work? :hmm:

The code for Old French is apparently fr.old, but if you try to use it, instead of getting [ownflag=Old French (fr.old)]http://forum.unilang.org/ext/unilang/languages/styles/all/theme/images/langicons/fr.old.png[/ownflag], you get just the flag of modern France: [flag=Old(??) French]fr.old[/flag]

But it was used after la Révolution française, too!
