I have trouble seeing how that would work. :hmm:

More of a technical issue than anything else, but there's an issue with duplicate records if attempting to modify an existing language in the user profile. I'm guessing there's a user:language table and instead of updating the row to show the level of knowledge it tries to insert it and fails. What you could do is select first to see if it exists and insert/update accordingly, or just try/catch it and use update if insert fails (which would at least mean less transactions being registered to the database).

Yeah that's been there since i joined - in 2013. I'm not sure how often proycon updates the code. But I believe with this last forum code revision, he made the github publicly accessible or something, so you could play with the code yourself. If you feel so inclined to try and make this change yourself, I guess maybe ask a forum admin for how to get access to the code.

IIRC proycon doesn't do anything with the code anymore and that's the whole point of making it available through git, so we can just change things ourselves instead of having to wait for him to do it.

I discussed a very similar problem (which is linked to this one) with koko a while back: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=46004

Basically it all boils down to the fact that the language and location page was set up differently before our recent code change. We used to have an edit button next to the language on our lists in the UCP which allowed us to change the stars/colors on our languages. That button and functionality isn't in the new code, for whatever reason. So if you try to edit your languages but selecting the language on the drop down menu and change whatever your trying to change it runs into an error because it's trying to add an "new" language to the list that is already present. Until an edit function is restored, the only way to modify languages on your list is to delete them and readd them with the changes you're trying to make.

Yes, I'm aware. What probably happens is the code executing the SQL statement to insert the row throws an uncaught exception, and instead of using this as an opportunity to update the existing row instead (by checking the error's SQL error code to make sure that that's the type of error being emitted), it just creates an error page. I know what the solution is, it would just be a matter of going in there and fixing it.

I can take a stab at it when I get home.

I was just explaining it for everyone's benefit really. :)

If I could, it'd take a stab at fixing it myself, but alas, I don't know the first thing about coding. :P

Can we add Albanian? Although if it's not here already… Then maybe no one can help me.

It's already on the language list.

If your asking for a forum, that's another matter entirely.

Could we have different dialects of Catalan, as well as the different national standards of Romanian? (Preferably including Transnistrian Romanian in all its Cyrillic glory.)
