I say Volapük should be an option!

Also, Javanese! That is a widely spoken language.

Thanks for the list, I can add these, but first a question:

Is the proper native name "manju gisun"? Shouldn't it be in hanzi?
And doesn't Javanese have its own script?

AFAIK, the script is only used for ceremonial purposes. Pretty much everyone uses the Latin Script.

Manchu is not written in Hanzi. There is Manchu script ( ᠮᠠᠨᠵᡠ ᡤᡳᠰᡠᠨ , manju gisun) but it has to be vertical. *shrug* For the most online purposes, the langauge is written in the romanised form - but it's up to you if you decide to stick to the original script.

I'm not sure why Prussian isn't on the list, especially when it has it's own forum. :P

There are no flags for most of finno-ugric languages. Here are the flags of some "Russian" finno-ugric languages:

Komi - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Komi.svg
Udmurt - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Udmurtia.svg
Mari (the flag can be used for both hill and meadow Mari languages) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Mari_El.svg

I'd like to suggest a few more:

Middle Korean (under "Korean")
iso: okm
flag: Korea

Old French (under "French")
iso: fro
flag: France

Gothic (Separate entity)
iso: got
flag: N/A

Old High German (under "German")
iso: goh
flag: Germany

Middle High German (under "German")
iso: gmh
flag: Germany

Middle Dutch (under "Dutch")
iso: dum
flag: the Netherlands

Old Saxon (under "German")
iso: osx
flag: N/A

Old Norse (under "Icelandic")
iso: non
flag: N/A

Relevant discussions either about or involving these languages took place on the fora, especially when the discussion became historical. And more, if we are to have Old and Middle English, there's no need to deny the status of other medieval vernaculars. I haven't included the names in the original language because they all evolved into modern variants and they didn't call their language "Old" and "Middle", just French, German, etc. (And assigning a single name can be often misleading as there were often more than one name and the orthography was not standardised.)

Let me suggest another mediaeval language:

Old Spanish (under "Spanish")
iso: osp (Not "spo" as I was expecting. Proof.)
flag: Spain

And again, as I mentioned it in my very first post here,

Salvadoran Spanish (under "Spanish", Español de El Salvador)
iso: spa (Spanish generic)
flag: El Salvador

It's not the only Spanish dialect missing however: Guatemalan, Puerto Rican, Andalusian. Some people would add Murcian too.

Also, "Peruan Spanish" should be respelled as "Peruvian".

:yep:

Problem with the old and middle languages is that I would need some kind of name in the native languages as well. Perhaps we could use the linguistically correct names in the modern languages they evolved into?

Other than Gothic and Norse, all names are from the modern variants - Korean, French, Spanish and German.

Middle Korean: 중세한국어

Old French: Ancien français

Old Spanish: Castellano antiguo

Gothic: Gutiska

Old High German: Althochdeutsch

Middle High German: Mittelhochdeutsch

Middle Dutch: Middelnederlands

Old Saxon: Altsächsische

Old Norse: norrœnt

Correct. Old Spanish wasn't extensively written until around the 13th century under Alfonso X the Wise, and it doesn't seem that there ever was an agreement on how to call the language... It was just some sort of Western Romance, a "Román Paladino" as a monk would say.

Also, I don't know if you should add Belizean Spanish (Español de Belice). It exists, but it's not recognized in the country. :P

Oh, and if you wanted the local names for the other dialects I mentioned (just for you to make sure):
Andalusian (Español de Andalucía) (though I wonder if Loqu would prefer Español "Andaluz")
Guatemalan (Español de Guatemala)
Puerto Rican (Español de Puerto Rico)
Murcian (Español de Murcia)

I'd vote for «de Andalucía». And it would be great to have it 8-)

Oh! More on the Spanish list!!!

I'll put them all here along with the ones I mentioned before in a single post to make it easier for you, Proycon.

--List of corrections and varieties to add, on Spanish--

Mexican: Español de México.
(Please add an acute accent over the E.)
Dominican: Español de la República Dominicana.
(Change those E in the original to I.)
Español de Perú
(Add an acute accent over the U.)
Plus the Peruan -> Peruvian correction.

Old Spanish: Castellano antiguo.
Flag: Spain. Image ISO: osp.

(The next ones all share an ISO-639-3 "spa" tag.)

Andalusian Spanish: Español de Andalucía.
Flag: Andalusia. (See below.)
Salvadoran Spanish: Español de El Salvador.
Flag: El Salvador. Image
Guatemalan Spanish: Español de Guatemala.
Flag: Guatemala. Image
Puerto Rican Spanish: Español de Puerto Rico.
Flag: Puerto Rico. Image
Belizean Spanish: Español de Belice.
Flag: Belize. Image

EDIT: I made a better version of the flag. I noticed most flags were 25x15 while mine was 23x15. And yes, those two extra bytes DO count.

Hey, I just noticed Classical Japanese and Classical Chinese have the Shogunate emblem and the Qing dinasty flag respectively as their flag! So should we use medieval flags for the old languages?

As for Old Spanish, we could use the flag of the Crown of Castile.

For Old French, it would be the Royal Pavilion, as Wikipedia states it was used from around the 11th century onward during the absolute monarchy. (Link.)

For Middle Korean, it would be the flag of the Joseon Dinasty, right?
