Can anyone please help translate this line?

Postby shimon » 2013-12-19, 14:47

It's for the parents of a friend in case tykat/vykat is an issue. I knew the parents quite well.

This is the line:

"Thank you for buying a cottage in Harmonia and making me love the forest."

Any help appreciated as they don't speak English and this is beyond my Slovak ability.

Ok, here is my non-native but probably (almost) correct translation. :)

Use word chata if it is used mainly for seasonal recreation and chalupa if it is used for living there whole year.

Thanks, there's no way I would have worked that one out!

Your translation is correct, but I would use word "Vám" in lowercase. Uppercase version is used when you're writing a letter to a single person you appreciate.

Wise is the stranger's eye. (Faroese saying)
