BG: Може ли да те черпя едно? or Може ли да те черпя едно питие?

Ти си красива. (You can use somthing like Oooh, you are so beautiful - Уау, много си красива

Can I call you?
Става ли да ти се обадя?

Do you have a boyfriend?
Имаш ли си гадже? or Имаш ли си приятел?

I like you.
Харесвам те. (or) Харесваш ми. (The first verse is stronger. The second is more friendly)

You're "the one"
Ти си единствена (but if you mean that she's perfect or the only one you can say: Ти си уникална/неповторима)


You are cute
Сладка си. (If you use "so" it's: Много си сладка or Толкова си сладка.... )

Can I kiss you?
Мога ли да те целуна?

The context is very important. Because every word can change the intonation or the meaning of the words you wanna say.

Why целуна and not целувам?

Bulgarian verbs have an aspect - perfect and imperfect, so целувам is imperfect aspect and да целуна is perfect and there are some differences in the shade of the meaning.

It this case it's more natural to say: "целуна" because the imperfect form of the verb shows that the act will be done only once and it will finish. Of course you could also say: "Мога да те целувам" but that means that I usually have the ability to kiss and I'll do this many times (without mentioning if the act will ever stop). For example: Мога да те целувам вечно. = I can kiss you forever.

Yeah, I get your point. But then I have another doubt: there's a song by the band Б.Т.Р. called "Спасение", which contains the verse:

"На раздяла ви целувам"

Which can be roughly translated as "I kiss you as I depart" (that is, once and at a specific point in time) How come?

Good question! I'm not pretty sure but I think here the imperfect form is used because the act probably is being done at the present moment and the stress is on the act itself but not when it will be done. Moreover when the verb is in present and there is no other verb in the sentence then we prefer the imperfect verbal aspect.

Аз купувам хляб. (I'm buying bread.) but:
Трябва да купя хляб. (I have to buy bread.),
Искам да купя хляб. (I want to buy bread.)

If you use the imperfect verbal aspect in the last two examples then that requires more information (because the imperfect shows that the act is done more times or it takes longer)
Трябва да купувам хляб (всеки ден) - I have to buy bread (every day).
(Задължително) трябва да купувам хляб (от този магазин). - It's compulsory for me to buy bread from this shop.

The verbal aspect is both hard to be explained and to be understood.

The imperfect aspect can be used in the present tense alone while the perfect one cannot be used in the present tense without the particles forming the future tense {ще} or the "subjunctive" (including the constructions with the modal verbs) {да}.
In the other Slavic languages the perfective aspect in the present tense can be used alone but in this case it denotes a future tense, called simple (opposed to the composed future, formed by the infinitive + present tense of "to be").
