Re: uli vs. muli vs. ulit

Postby dkatbena » 2012-06-07, 17:54

"Uli" means repetition but in older times it means "Come back". Uli is the root word of many Tagalog words. So muli and ulit are just some of its formed words. here are sample grammars to provide clues how these three are used. 1.) masarap pala ang pagkain duon sa pinuntahan natin kanina, kain uli tayo duon sa susunod? 2.) kailan ulit ang pasyal natin duon? 3.) Pagkalipas ng isang taon eto na naman tayong muli at magsasalita sa parating na halalan. :ohwell: :ohwell:

Re: Morphological breakdown of "aalis"

Postby dkatbena » 2012-06-09, 7:12

oh it is hard to explain like you did. I don't know morpheme boundaries. But the given sample sentence states that "Aalis ang Tindero" is saying " The sales person will go out" (but it should be "Lalabas" not Aalis(this one is permanently leaving the place of work or position). The root word for Aalis is "ALIS" while in "Lalabas" is "Labas"(from older word Luwas). present tense= palabas ka ba ngayon? or Ngayon ba ang labas mo? (are you going out now? ) past tense= Nakalabas ka pala kahapon! = ah, You went out yesterday! future tense= You will go out tomorrow together with your friends.= Lalabas kayo bukas kasama ng mga kaibigan mo.

the basics of Tagalog is easy to learn but speaking in straight tagalog is not easy.(it requires familiarity in its usage) Baybayin symbols are not for writing ordinary notes. It is a symbol that associates with Spirituality.only babaylan(Priestess) can use them often in writing and reading prayers and bulong (chants).I suggest that healers use baybayin to write down healing words/chants.it is effective!

Soon, one day, my sweet
More than a wish will appear
Before your desire burns anew we will meet
Faster than what love’s thought can rear.

And their beams ruffle the day
When your dreams are still alive
I will come so when you awake they stay.

Look at that moonbeam above, my love
It is the slide upon which I will descend
To the place where my heavens move
Made from the beauty you send.

Though time may appear too slow
One day will be kind
When our embrace finally know
And only sweet memories leave behind.

Filipino/Pilipino is the term used when describing the Nationality. Not all people in the Philippines are Tagalog (native speaker) but can speak in Pilipino.(modern Tagalog). So when someone is a native Tagalog speaker, he/she can speak Tagalog. But if from other Minority outside Tagalog, He/she is a Pilipino/Filipino. The difference between these two is the knowledge in the usage of Tagalog words.

Ang mga nakasulat ko

Postby Æren » 2012-08-23, 13:52

Hi, everyone!
I start this topic to post my writing is Tagalog. I would be exclusively thankful for your corrections and explanations!
I studied Tagalog 6 years ago (whoah!) with almost no resources except the Seasite course and the wiki grammar section. Now, I have some dictionaries on pdf, Tagalog on-line dictionary, TY Tagalog and "Basic Tagalog for foreigners and non-Tagalogs". Currently, I am dealing with the latter.

I start with the first part drills of Lesson 7.
Translate into Tagalog:
1. We are studying Tagalog. (excl.) - Nag-aaral kami ng Tagalog.
2. I am Mary. He is John. - Ako si Mary. Si John ay sila.
3. We are clean and good. (incl)- Malilinis at mabubuti tayo.
4. They are healthy and bright.- Sila'y malusog at marurunong.
5. This is Manila. - Ito'y Maynila.
6. You are a teacher. (polite) - Ang titser kayo.
7. Those are Americans. - Mga Amerikano'y ang mga iyan.
8. You are Filipinos. (pl.) - Mga Pilipino kayo.
9. She is playing. - Naglalaro siya.
10. That is Baguio. - Iyon ay Baguio.
