Farsi words for "long"?

Postby OldGrantonian » 2014-08-02, 8:38

Please tell me the Farsi words for:

"long", as in "long time"
"long", as in "long distance"
"long", as in "long legs"

I would prefer the answers to be in Roman phonetic script.

long in "long time" --> Toulani طولانی
long in "long distance" --> Toulani طولانی
long in "long legs" --> Boland بلند (polite) and Deraz دراز (impolite when refer to somebody)
So for example "Dady-long-legs" is "Baba leng deraz" (leng is impolite term for leg) with leng and deraz together, the combination is kind of impolite. "Pahaye Boland" (long legs) is the polite form.

Thank you for your response - and for including the Farsi script and your detailed examples.

Hi,

Derâz دراز in the correct context, is not impolite, examples:
Long distance - râhe derâz راه دراز
Long term - derâz modat دراز مدت
derâz dast - a complementary term for Ardeshir a Persian king from ancient times, literally means 'the long armed'
