Any Sorani speakers around? I'd love to know the words to this Sufi performance:

The recent activity on the forum about Arabic had already made me happy, and this post with a Kurdish song just made me ecstatic! :) Thanks eskandar! We need more Kurdish and Middle Eastern presence on Unilang!

Here is the first stanza:

Keça Kurd e, serbilind e
Bejinzirav, pirî rind e
Şeng û şox û xweyî rûmet
Karxezala şar û gund e

She is a Kurdish girl, she is proud.
Slim-postured, very beautiful.
Cheerful and lively, an owner of honour.
A gazelle of city and village.

It's from a poem book "Rewşa Welêt" by Bro Omerî.

I tried to write down the rest of the lyrics, but I couldn't understand all. :(

As I am in love with Kurdish music and know tons of Kurdish songs, I thought I can try and make this subforum a bit more active by posting songs with English translations. I'd rather not give a literal English translation but a kind of glossing without trying to sound idiomatic in English.

Another performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ennme-Lgjk

Şêrîna min were ba min
Şêrîna min ez bê hal im were ba min
Ku tu ji min bawer nakî nayî dîtina min
Piştî ez mirim tu qet neke şîna min

My sweet, come to me,
My sweet, I am without state /I am run down/, come to me,
If you do not believe me, don't come seeing me
After I die, never make mourning of me

Çavreşa min çare nîne
Çavreşa min, nav û cergê min derd û xwîn e
Sebeba min ev dile ji bo te bi evîne
Her tim hawar û axîn û gazî me

My black-eyed, there is no solution
My black-eyed, my inside and my liver is misery and blood
My reason is, this heart is for you in love
All the time I scream and moan and cry for help.

Şêrîna min çavreşa min, delala min
Şiyar im bê te xew nayê
Hêsirên çavê'm tê xar, dawî lê nayê
Te min kir hat û dînek berdam dinyayê

My sweet, my black-eyed, my beautiful
I am awake without you, my sleep doesn't come
Tears of my eyes fall down, their end doesn't come
You made me mad and left crazy to the world.

Cheers voron! Thanks for the translation! I don't see myself studying Kurdish at any point in the near future (even though I'd like to) but I hope to at least keep up with Arabic and Turkish. Wish I could tempt you into studying Persian or Urdu, too.

I was able to find the rest of the lyrics, and a Turkish translation, online:

Keça Kurd e, serbilind e
Bejinzirav, pir-î rind e
Şeng û şox û xweyî rûmet
Karxezala şar û gund e
Keçên delal, keçên ciwan...
Hember zilme serî hildan
Ji bîr kirin şe û hine,
Neynik, mûçing, kil û kildan
Bi eyarşîrk bêrîvan bû
Sitrana Memê Şivan bû
Dotmama Duwanzde pismam,
Evîn û xewna xortan bû.
Kûzê avê li ser Milan
Dest û pêçî li çembilan
Di rojên cejn û şahiyê
Diket hêlan, dikir dîlan

TÜRKÇESİ
KÜRT KIZI

Kürt kızıdır, gururludur.
Selvi boylu, çok güzeldir.
Nazlı, cilveli ve onurlu
Köyün ve şehrin nazlı ceylanıdır.
Nazlı ve güzel kızlar
Zulüm karşısında baş kaldırdılar
Unuttular artık tarak, kına
Ayna, cımbız ve sürmeyi
Küçük tulumlu dağ gülüydü
Çoban Mem’in şarkısıydı
On iki gencin amcakızıydı
Aşk ve rüyasıydı gençlerin
Matarası omuzlarında
Eli kulplarına sarılı
Bayram ve eğlence günlerinde
Halay çeker neşelenirlerdi

(I'm not posting this as a statement for or against the Kurdish independence referendum in Iraq. Just liked the song!)

Cool song Eskandar! And it is in Kurmanji! (I guess because it is sung by the Yezidi community which are Kurmanji speakers).

I think can make out most of the lyrics (with an unclear word here and there). I'll try to transcribe it all.
Here is one of the stanzas (at 1:31)

Heylê rabe Êzidîyo
‏Pêk biçinê dengdanê
‏Da bo xelkê dîyar kin
‏Em xwediyên Kurdistanê

Come on, stand up, Yezidi,
In rows, go to the voting.
For the people, build a country
We are the owners of Kurdistan.

EDIT: I was able to find the lyrics.

Limagne once shared another version of this song:

Lyrics for that other version (slightly different from the one you posted), with Turkish translation below: http://sarkisozleri.kurtcebilgi.com/s/s ... o/batmane/
