I used to use a combination of ijunoon's dictionary and Google Translate, but I've found that Oxford's online Urdu-English (unfortunately only in this direction) dictionary much more effective. The great thing about it is that it includes lots of phrases like اعداد و شمار and phrasal verbs like قرار دینا. It also gives several meanings and the gender of nouns, which was missing before. Another good thing is that when you type in a word suggestions show up, so when you start typing ذرائع (means) it'll show you the suggestions ذرائعِ ابلاغ (media) and ذرائعِ آمدورفت (means of transportation) so you can expand your vocabulary even further with phrases and compound words. It's helped me a lot in understanding Urdu texts.

Hey guys, I found an application that automatically shows Nastaleeq instead of Naskh in your internet browser. Makes it much easier to read Urdu!
