Need Slovenian translation

Postby Vlacko » 2006-02-02, 8:02

Hi!

I heard a song, and I think that this is Slovenian. I would really appreciate if someone could translate this into English.

Moj ocka ima koncka dva
Oba sta bela simelna
Cing cingel, cing cingel, cing cingel, cing cong
Veselo je moje srce.

Moj ocka ima koncka dva
Oba sta bela simelna

Za enega jas prosil bom
za drugoga pojezdil bom
Cing cingel, cing cingel, cing cingel, cing cong
Veselo je moje srce.

Moj ocka ima koncka dva
Oba sta bela simelna
"If this is the best of all possible worlds, then what must the others be like?"

Hi Vlacko!

Where did you get this text from?
I haven't seen and heard this song for ages. Since my times in the elementary school.

I've found a different, and as I remember, more accurate text:

Moj očka 'ma konjička dva,
/My dad has two little horses/
oba sta lepa šimeljna,
/both are nice white horses/
cing cingel, cing cangel,
cing cingel, cing cong,
veselo je moje srce.
/my heart is joyful/

Za enega poprosil bom,
/I will ask for a one/
da drevi v vas pojezdil bom,
/to ride into the village tonight/
cing cingel, cing cangel,
cing cingel, cing cong,
veselo je moje srce.

Čez tri gore, čez tri dole,
/across three mountains, across three valleys/
čez tri zelene travnike,
/accross three green meadows/

bom jezdil k svoji ljub'ci v vas,
/I'll ride to my dear to pay a visit/
prepeval in vriskal na glas.
/I'll sing and shout loudly/

Zdravo Maja!

Well a band name Kuguarsi sing this song. And they sing it quite well. Maybe you know them. They play funny songs, and they write funny songs, but this one is really good.
Is this some children's song?
I supposed that this is Slovenian, cause it looks familiar, yet it isn't...
Thanks for translation, I've thought I'll long for this translation.

No, I don't.

Hmmm... does it sound like a song for children? A lad asking his father for a horse to visit his darling in the evening?
No, it's a folk song. Here you have them more: http://www.spletomat.com/kazalo/narodne

I didn't read last two couplets, cause they sing only first two couplets. Now it has sense...
I thought that it's a little boy whos wants to ride ponny...

My girlfriend gave me a little letter just yesterday... and it included this sentence "samuu, srce moje srce tvoje" and i think it's slovenian or croatian (her mother is from slovenia and her father is from croatia)

When i asked her what it ment she said it didn't matter, and that she didn't want to translate it...
So now i want to ask you what this means...

thx
