I was on a bus today when I noticed a woman reading a Lithuanian magazine. On the page she was reading, I caught sight of the words

Reikia žiūrėti savęs …

And I couldn’t help wondering what it meant. From what I could find out from some Lithuanian dictionaries online, I rather think it means something like: “Must see for myself …”

My knowledge of Lithuanian is really basic, but I'd say it means 'it needs to be seen', in the meaning of 'you have to see it'.

But well, maybe I'm wrong, so we'll wait for a native or anyone who knows.

I would say that correct translation of reikia žiūrėti savęsis that you must watch after yourself or you must take care about yourself. Depends on the context.

Besides that, the style of this Lithuanian sentence reikia žiūrėti savęslooks incorrect. It would be better to say - Reikia prižiūrėti save or Reikia rūpintis savimi.
