Kokioj šalyje?

I am slightly unsure of this - it was used after

"O kur tu gyveni?" - which I know means "And where do you live"

Does it mean something like, is it near somewhere nice as "šalia" means "near to" and I think "Kokybė" means quality

So just trying to combine the two phrases hoping this is right

"šalia" means "beside" and yes, "kokybė" [koks?] is quality ("kiekybė" [kiek?] means quantity)

Tautinis/tautinė means "national" (m/f) We don't really use such expression like "Thank you people" ("Žmonės/liaudie, ačiū!"), unless some leader wants to thank people for support or something. Just use "ačiū" or "ačiū už pagalbą" [thanks for help] etc.

Kokioj šaly is In which country?
Kokioj is the contracted form of the word 'Kokioje' which is the female 'In Which'.
Šaly is 'in country', it comes from the word šalis which is country (feminine).

In English you don't say 'in which in country' but in lithuanian you do (considering that in is replaced by a different ending of the word).


BTW: It can also be said as 'kokioj šaly' as 'šalyje' can sometimes be informally contracted to 'šaly'.
BTW2: no lithuanian nominative nouns end with ą.
