Szerencsétlen szerintem sírva szaladt haza, mikor meglátta ezt a sok ipás kriksz-krakszot...

Poor thing must've run home crying, having seen all these IPA scribbles...

Is that in fact "ch" in the middle?

Az "ipás kriksz-kraksz", tehát egy betű egy hangot jelöl. A "c" itt a magyar "ty"-nek felel meg, pl.: tyúk.
That's "IPA scribble", too, so one letter - one sound. The "c" is here like "ty" in the Hungarian word tyúk.

Thanks, it's clear now. I was surprised to find the "c" there (expecting "tʲ" or another palatalized sound).

That might be hard, as there is for example no [ɟ] (gy) nor [ø] (ö) sound in English... Suppose the natives could give some English approximation only. :?:

[ɟ] -> Similar to a palatalized "d", as in BrE "due".
[c] -> Similar to a palatalized "t", as in BrE "sTupid".
[ø] -> This one's hard....euhm...I can't think of any good example right now. French "deux" would do but that's French.

Po polsku, niestety, chyba tez. nie :) ale [ø] przypomina niemieckie ö.
