Postby gib65 » 2010-11-15, 5:14

Hello,

I'm looking for someone who understands latin. Is there anyone on this forum who does?

A 1000 thanks.

This is from Augustine's City of God:

For some reason, it's in the English translation (like it wasn't worth translating). Maybe if I knew what it meant, I might understand why.

Again thanks if you can translate it.

Do you still need the translation? I found this one that you can hopefully preview on google books, the paragraph starting with "How in the world, then,"

It's strange that it would be left in Latin in the Dods translation -- from what I can see there's nothing special about it.
