THe Prepparation for a Neww Age

Postby Monitor22 » 2008-01-18, 14:48

Salve!

How do I translate "The Preparaation for .a. New Age" into latin. WOuld "new age" (not the weird religious stuff but just any new age/era in general) be translated as "nova aetas"?. Thanks.

I slightly paraphrased it to 'of a new age:'

"Praeparatio aetatis novae."

If you really want to say 'for,' I'm guessing the ablative:

"Praeparatio aetate nova."

The genitive seems to fit here :)
As for the ablative I'm doubtful... It has the general sense of drawing away from something, which doesn't sound to me right in this context. Actually, I might have used the dative (praeparatio aetati novae), it seems to work very well for all the meanings of "to/for".

Yeah I mixed up the dative and ablative now that you mention it. Silly me. It's funny though, that the dative works for all meanings of 'to' and 'for.'

When you used your ablative the first time, it made no sense at all in Latin.

What do you mean? I stated above it wasn't correct.
