It has just crossed my mind that as a matter of fact there is no close counterpart for the particle/conjunction byle in English. i.e. -

Zrobił to byle jak.
Przyjdzie taki byle kto i będzie mnie pouczał.
Połóż to gdzie chcesz, byle nie tutaj.
Szedł naprzód byle dalej.
Cieszyła go byle drobnostka.
Nie byle kto mi to mówił.

Can you think of any English or other languages translation?

I see two meanings of the particle:

a. optative, desiderative use, with emphasized importancy of action/situation
Byle nie ja. - Let it be not me. (That's all what I want.)
Byleby tylko ktoś to zrobił. - May someone just do it. (Nothing else is so important.)

b. (connected) indication that concrete person/object/manner is not important
Zawołaj byle kogo. - Call anybody. (It does not matter, who.)
Wybrałem byle jak. - I made whatever choice. (Not caring about any decision.)

Yes means just not me, byle = just in that sentence

Byleby tylko ktoś to zrobił. - May someone just do it. (Nothing else is so important.)

More fits: Just anyone has to do this, who, doesn't matter (i want that job to be done)here also means just.
