Understanding other Romance languages?

I am very curious how much does Italian help you with understanding other Romance languages.
So let's play a game:
Look at the following sentences in Romanian and tell me how much do you understand ?

1. Maria s-a pierdut repede în castel pentru că totul era construit ca un labirint.

2. Vecina a cumpărat o casă nouă, aproape de coastă, cu vedere la mare.

3. Medicul a zis că somniferele te ajută dacă nu poți dormi.

4. Ieri sora mea a desenat un arbore foarte frumos.

5. Ursul e cel mai periculos animal din Transilvania.

Please guess the meaning of these and don't look at the others.

1)Maria s'è persa in un castello dentro il quale tutto era costruito come in un labirinto.
Mary lost herself in a castle where everything was built like a labyrinth

2)La vicina ha comprato una casa nuova presso la costa con vista mare.
The she-nieghbour bought a new house near the seaside with sea-view.

3)Il medico ha detto che il sonnifero t'aiuta quando non puoi dormire.
The doctor said that the soporific helps thee when you cannot sleep.

4)Ieri mia sorella ha disegnato un albero con forti fronde(?).
Yesterday my sister drew a tree with strong branches(?).

5)L'orso è l'animale più pericoloso in Transilvania.
Bear is the most dangerous animal in Transylvania.
(I understood "mai" thanks to Portuguese and Spanish)

Maria si è persa (I don't understand the word "REPEDE") nel castello perché tutto era costruito come un labirinto.

La vicina di casa ha comperato una casa nuova, vicino alla costa, con vista sul mare.

3. Medicul a zis că somniferele te ajută dacă nu poți dormi.

Ieri mia sorella ha disegnato un albero molto bello (foarte frumos = molto bello? I think someone told me that frumos means "beautiful", but I'm not sure).

L'orso è l'animale più pericoloso in Transilvania

I think Romanian is incredibly close to Italian in many ways

1. Maria si è persa subito (repede -> cfr. repentino? repentinamente?) in un castello perché tutto era costruito come un labirinto.
2. La vicina ha comprato una nuova casa, vicina (aproape -> cfr. propinquo?) alla costa, con vista sul mare.
3. Il medico ha detto che i sonniferi ti aiutano se non puoi dormire.
4. Ieri mia sorella ha disegnato un albero molto bello (frumos -> cfr. formoso?).
5. L'orso è l'animale più pericoloso della Transilvania.

1) Maria si è persa subito ne castello perché tutto era costruito come un labirinto.

2)La vicina ha comprato una casa nuova, vicino alla costa, da cui si vede il mare.

Ok, i saw other answers....sora mea is obviously mia sorella....

Of course, if I am trying to understand something in Romenian, I 'hang' onto the Italian-like words which help me to have a rough idea of the meaning; And if I know some conjunctions like 'dacă' or 'pentru' this also helps to detect a general 'logic' of the sentence.

Now instead, try these ones ...

I only knew that "pentru" means "for, because". And I guessed frumps cognate with Spanish hermoso.[/hide]
It's funny how other Romance languages don't understand somniferele, which is a piece of cake for the Italians.

I looked at the other answers (only because I wanted to see if what I thought was what others did) but a desenat and arbore look (from an English POV (this helps too)) more like designed and harbour.

Therefore:
Ieri sora mea a desenat un arbore foarte frumos
[flag=]en[/flag] Yesterday, my sister designed a strong harbour (frumos looks like "frame").

2) Vecina a cumpărat o casă nouă, aproate de coastă, cu vedere la mera.
The neighbour's bought a new house, open to the coast, that she can view the sea.

These two sentences are the only ones I could do myself.

No, a desenat and arbore mean drawed and tree.

That makes more sense (the latter with the former). I connected arbore with tree too, but it didn't work with what I thought a desenat meant. (also, to design could also mean to draw: you design a building by drawing something out. I wasn't too far off ^^ but perhaps the two words aren't synonymous in this context in Romanian)

Is frumos tall?
