You can, but that's not how Estonians usually speak.Irusia wrote:Why cannot I say "oleks söömas"?
I think, here "muusika" is actually real genitive, and not a total object. So "muusika kuulamine" - listening (process) of musicIrusia wrote:And why it should be "muusika kuulamine" instead of "muusikat kuulamine"?
I don't think I can do that in a short and simple way. Better take this topic to another thread.Irusia wrote:I cannot understand whether an object should be partial or whole. Can you explain it more?

Maybe because similar sounding words often are related.h34 wrote:My impression is that Estonian often has similar-sounding words for similar concepts (nature, animal,... ; sun, day, shine,...; bird, fly,...).
Loodus and loom should be both derived from the verb looma.
Sun and day both were *päivä in Proto-Finnic, they still are the same in many Finnic language, for example Võro päiv. Päike(ne) is supposedly contracted form of *päivükkainen.
If by "shine" you mean paistma then this is supposedly from Proto-Germanic and should be related to German bähen.
