Translation help?

Postby tudde » 2007-04-15, 18:14

Hi, I'm new here :) I found a piece of orange cardboard in a book I checked out from the library here in Norway a few years ago. It says
"Mul on küllalt aega,
et korda saata kõik oluline!"

I'm really curious as to what it means, and its context. Is it a quote/proverb/advertisement or anything familiar?

Thnx :)

Hi, Tudde and welcome!

It says:

"I have enough time to make happen everything that is important."

It is not a proverb or saying known to me. It can be a quote, but I don't know from where it could be. From the same book maybe?

And how did you guess it was Estonian? :)

Hi, and thanks a lot for the help! :) Appreciate it! I found it in a Norwegian book about archaeology (don't remember exactly which one now), so I doubt it has anything to do with the content of the book. The whole thing is a mystery to me :)

I asked a friend who knows someone who studies Finnish, and that person guessed that it was estonian. He also tentatively translated it, from an estonian-finnish dictionary via a norwegian-finnish one :) He got it mostly right (compared with your translation).

Thanks again!! :)
Turid
