I met a poor homeless romanian speaking man today on the streets and he told me he needs money so that he can buy a "pilot". He seemed to point to a duvet/quilt that someone else had so i guessed that this is what he meant.

When i tried to use google translate later on to find out what "pilot" means in romanian, i didn't get much help. So i was wondering if someone here knows anything about it? If i find out what he actually mean, I thought that I would buy one for him seeing as it is freezing outside

Hi!
I'm pretty sure the word is "bilet" which means "ticket" (usually bus ticket, in this particular case).
Especially for a person that doesn't have an astonishing pronociation, these words are pretty similar.
"Pilot" - hmm, it just seems very unlikely. It means: "flight commander" or "trial, experimental" (as in "proiect pilot" - trial project).
All the best!
