I need help with a phrase in my language book.

"Această doamnă avea nevoie de el acum 6 ani, iar colegul meu de-abia acum şi-a amintit şi a vrut să se ţină de cuvânt..

I'm not a native but I'll give it a try.

"This lady needed it six years ago, but my colleague just now remembered and wanted to keep his word."

This doesn't really make much sense and is hard to translate without context. I'm still a learner of the language so this could be wrong.

This lady needed him 6 years ago,and my colleague has just remembered / remembered this only now and wanted to keep his word.

this is the correct translation for the phrase. good job!

in romanian language the word el is him and it also.
a male dog is" el " ,or a tree is "el "

Ps: the lady needed him- could be for help or something to do for her
the lady needed it - i think what it represents is coming from the context.

all the best!
