Bringing back this old thread hoping I'd be lucky to get some new recommendations :) A lot of new Czechs around, and a lot of things must've happened in the Czech music world since 2008. So please share if you have anything!

Ok, I am not really an expert on the newest Czech music, but never mind. I will post few of my personal recommendations across the time and genres.

Už jsme doma je moje oblíbená česká kapela. Progresivní rock? Nevím třídit, ale podobá se King Crimson.

I really liked some of the Xindl X and Nightwork songs :D I usually like pop, hip hop or mild rock, so this fits my taste pretty well! Thank you! I'll go through your "something newer" category once I get back to Norway as they're all blocked here in Japan.

Dva sing in their own language, though in this very video you can't appreciate as it is a soundtrack for a computer game in which they mostly remain silent. I fell in love it the looks of it, and when you put it together with the music it's insurmountable.
It took me some time before I learned to like Květy but ever since it happened it's very unlikely that the situation could change. Highly recommended. :)

I'm really liking Epitaf. They're like the Czech version of Seether. The only kind of metal (well, kawaiimetal is fun), I can stand.

Could anyone let me know what some of their songs are about? Particularly Rytíř and Horoskop. Thanks in advance if anyone can.

If it's enough for you just in a nutshell then the first one is set in Middle Ages scenery, it's about brave but obedient and humble life of common soldiers who have to follow their king and fight against those he, the man of authority, wishes. The other one is probably supposed to be funny, it says, in examples, how naive and possibly dangerous it is to believe horoscope predictions. But you won't get more from me, I'm horrible at lyrics translating and moreover, I dislike both the lyrics and the music. And the way of singing. (I haven't seen the video so I'm neutral here. )
