Postal Address in Russian

Postby paul_a_j » 2016-08-27, 12:53

Hi
How would a Russian refer to their postal address (snailmail) i.e. on to which you would send an открытка to?

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul!

Postal address looks like this:

123456 Россия, name of the region, city/village, street name, house number, apprtment/office number

I hope this helps.

Thanks, how would you specifically refer to a postal address, "почтовый адрес"?
I'm corresponding with someone and I asked for their address so I could send them a postcard (открытка) but they replied with an e-mail address.
Of course perhaps they don't want to tell me :D :D

It's not common to send postcards nowadays in Russia that's why people think that you ask their e-mail address. And yes, postal address is not something you tell here and there, it's private information, so don't expect people to be open about this. But anyway you can try to ask again explaining what you need почтовый адрес for.

That's correct :)
