Unidade 2: Estou de volta :-)

Olá a todos,
Peter está de volta com segunda tentativa.
O meu progresso é muit pequena.
Eu tenho um livro em Inglês, porque o livro em Eslovaca língua é muito caro.
Verão está a terminar na Eslováquia, mas eu gosto do Outono também.
Eu gosto de todas as épocas, quando é um bom tempo.

That is all :-D

oh, and also a meaning in English - if my portuguese is too bad :-D

Part 2: I am back :-)

Hello all,
Peter is back with second try.
My progress is very slow.
I ahve a book in english, because book in slovak language is very expensive.
Summer in Slovakia is ending, but I like autumn (fall) too.
I like all seasons, when it is good weather.

Nada mau! ;)

You just need to pay attention to articles (both definite and indefinite). I know Slovak doesn't have them, but in Portuguese these little words are rather important.

Obrigado, Luís.

And I would like to ask:

"O meu progresso é muito pequeno."

there is muito pequeno because of "o" ending of "progresso"? so if there would be some word with "a" ending (for example rainha :D ), the sentence would be:

"A meu rainha é muita pequena" ? :D

Yes. Adjectives (pequeno/pequena) must inflect according to the gender and number of the subject.

kotrcka wrote:so if there would be some word with "a" ending (for example rainha :D ), the sentence would be:

"A meu rainha é muita pequena" ? :D

Almost that. Possessive pronouns (meu/minha/meus/minhas) must be inflected according to the gender and number of the subject as well. However, note that adverbs (in this case, "muito") won't be inflected. So, the correct is:

"A minha rainha é muito pequena."

My queen is very small ;)

Ah, there's a very important thing about the word "Muito": Sometimes it is an adverb (which, when translated to English, will mean "Very") and sometimes a pronoun (in English: "Many").
When "Muito" is a pronoun (Many), it will be inflected just like adjectives.

More examples:
"Há muitas canetas aqui" (There are many pens here)
"Eu possuo muitos carros" (I own many cars)
"Esta caneta é muito pequena" (This pen is very small)

Por favor me corrijam se eu cometi algum erro ;)

few another sentences - today with verbs too:

Sou trabalho o com computador e sou escrevo o com teclado. A teclado é muito pequena.

Sou como o bolo. O bolo é muito bom.

Hoje é calor mas o vento sopra. O vento é calor também.
--------------------------

and expected meaning :-D

I am working (now) with computer and I am writing (now) with (on) keayboard. The keyboard is very small.

I am eating (now) the cake. The cake is very good.

Today is warm (weather) but with blows. Wind is warm too.

Thanks for corrections :-)

Boa tentativa!

About the verbs "Ser" and "Estar", "Ser" usually refers to permanent things while "Estar" for temporary things.

kotrcka wrote:Sou trabalho o com computador e sou escrevo o com teclado. A teclado é muito pequena.

In this sentence you used "Ser". As you stated, you meant you are working now with the computer. Then, you must use "Estou" instead of "Sou", as you aren't permanently working with computers.

About the verb "trabalho", you must use it in the "gerund" form (It's like -ing form in English, such as in working, eating, etc...). In Portuguese, it is -ndo. Examples:

trabalhar -> trabalhando
escrever -> escrevendo
rir -> rindo

And "teclado" is masculine.

Corrections:

"Estou trabalhando com o computador e estou escrevendo com o teclado. O teclado é muito pequeno."

"Estou comendo o bolo. O bolo é muito bom (The cake is (always) good)/ O bolo está muito bom = ((This) cake is very good)

"Hoje está calor mas há muito vento. O vento está quente também.

This last sentence sounds more natural this way for me.

A very important note: I am not sure if the gerund thing and the last sentence apply to European Portuguese as well.

Thanks..

I think I understand, mainly that cake thing.

So in portuguese there are two ways, how to say the same.

if my grandma doesthe cake an it is always good, i will use é.. and if, for example, I did the cake and it is good only this time, i can use other form with está.

and the same with wind :-)

1. In European Portuguese, the possessive requires the article. Always say "o meu carro", "a minha casa". The exception is when you're calling/invoking someone: "Meu filho, vem cá.", "Meu deus!".

2. The word for language, língua, is feminine, but when referring to the language itself you use the masculine. For instance, "O português é difícil. Holandês é bonito". If you want to say "the english language" however, you'd use the feminine, due to the gender of língua: "A língua inglesa".

3. When using the future, you have to choose either the simple or the periphrastic form. You either say aprenderei or vou aprender. In the periphrastic future, you only conjugate the verb ir.

Eu me chamo Michael.

Me surpreendeu muito!

Parabéns pelo teu esforço!
