Considering the onomatopoeic origin, it's not impossible. Isn't the way cats "talk" similar in most languages? I thought about the sound of gargling, but surprisingly my dictionary says "gargarejar" (= κάνω γaργάρες ) comes from Ancient Greek gargarizein, through Latin gargarizare
Anyway, if you say "throat" in Standard Greek as φάρυγγας, how do you say "pharynx"?
