KALADONT [game]

Postby kibo » 2007-09-09, 11:42

For all of you who don't know what this game is about here: is the explanation.

Kaladont is a word game played in the Croatian and Serbian language.

Gameplay

The game requires a minimum of two players, there is no maximum number. The first player says a word longer than two letters (for example: slon which means elephant). The next player must say a word beginning with the last two letters of the previous word (in this case the word must begin with "on"). When a player can't think of any word or when a word is non-existent, the player loses. The goal is to be the first one to say "kaladont", as it is regarded that the word starting with "nt" does not exist in these languages. Forbidden words are names, repeated words and foreign words.

So I start the game with the word knjiga, the next person continues with the word gavran, the next person writes ananas and the next person writes asistent. Since it's impossible to give a word which starts with -nt, the last person gets a point. The game restarts with another word.

I should also say that all forms of the words are allowed. That means you can use nouns in locative plural, comparatives/superatives of adjectives, any tense or mood for verbs. The word should have a minumum of 3 letters of course.

To make the game more interesting, you should use the word in a sentence (and in the exact form you gave). The sentences don't have to be complicated, and I'll correct them if necessary.

аорист

Српски аорист звучи за мене необично и старински јер ме подсећа на црквенословенске текстове.

kiša - rain

Ovdje (ovde in serbian), kiša pada od jutros.
Here, it's raining since this morning

Thanks for your corrections, but you have to know that I am learning bosnian, which is closer to croatian than to serbian (as far as I can judge).
