What is the number 1,500 in Hebrew lettering?

Postby Rowyourboat » 2015-02-22, 14:37

So, I'm wondering if anyone knows what the number 1,500 (one thousand five hundred) is in Hebrew letters? I've been doing some research on my own trying to figure out the answer, but there are a very limited number of resources available to me and each one is giving a different answer.

Some sources say that א׳ is 1,000 and others say that אלף is 1,000.

Some say that תק is 500, while others say that ך is 500.

So I'm just hoping for some clarification please? :yep:

To the best of my knowledge, the customary way to write it would be א' ת"ק - this is at least how the years are indicated, e.g. ה' תשע"ה for 5,775.
